Hello class! To truly master a language, we must look back at its history. I have prepared a special presentation for you about Old English, the language spoken in England over a thousand years ago. What will you discover in these slides? -The Origins: Where did English come from? (Hint: Think of the Anglo-Saxons!). -The Sound: How different did it sound compared to the English we speak today? -Beowulf: An introduction to the most famous epic poem in history. The Evolution: How old words transformed into the modern vocabulary we use in our daily lessons. As you go through the presentation, pay attention to the spellings and sounds. You will notice that English used to be a very different, almost 'warrior-like' language! Task: Watch the slides carefully and find three words that look completely different from modern English. Write them in the comments below!

Grammar Focus: The Present Simple ✍️ Welcome to our mind map! To talk about folklore, legends, and general truths, we use the Present Simple. In this map, you will see how we describe Irish creatures and their habits. How do we use it here? For facts: "Ireland is an island with many secrets." For habits: "A Leprechaun makes shoes and hides his gold." For descriptions: "Banshees scream to warn about the future." Remember the Golden Rule: When we talk about a single creature (He/She/It), we add an -s to the verb: The Giant builds a bridge. (NOT: The Giant build a bridge). Explore the branches of this map to find more examples and practice your English! Your browser does not support frames. View this map on its original site. It was created using Mindomo .

After completing the activity, you will take a short exam to make sure you have not forgotten what you learned before the holidays. During vacations, it is normal to forget some things, so this test is designed to help you review and remember how to use superlatives correctly in English. The exam will include simple questions and exercises where you will have to choose the correct form, complete sentences, or identify the right superlative. It is not meant to be stressful or difficult, but to help you show what you still remember and what you may need to practice a little more. By doing this small exam, you will gain confidence, refresh your knowledge, and be better prepared to continue learning and improving your English skills.

Today we are going to start a new learning activity using eXeLearning, a digital educational tool that helps teachers create interactive lessons in a clear and organized way. With eXeLearning, activities can include texts, images, games, and exercises that make learning more dynamic and engaging. In this activity, you will help a character complete a word search by finding superlatives hidden among the letters, so you can practice how to form and use them correctly in English. You will read carefully, think about the words you know, and work step by step at your own pace, using technology as a learning support to make the activity more fun and interactive. CLICK HERE

3 Experts Activity

This multidisciplinary activity brings together experts in Linguistics, Philology, and Translation to tackle the complex distinction between language and dialect, focusing on the specific case of Scots and English. Through a structured debate, the panel examines whether Scots is a sister language with independent historical roots or a dialect within a modern linguistic continuum, ultimately reaching a reasoned consensus that balances academic rigor with cultural identity. https://gemini.google.com/share/1493871f5c08
