Hello class! To truly master a language, we must look back at its history. I have prepared a special presentation for you about Old English, the language spoken in England over a thousand years ago. What will you discover in these slides? -The Origins: Where did English come from? (Hint: Think of the Anglo-Saxons!). -The Sound: How different did it sound compared to the English we speak today? -Beowulf: An introduction to the most famous epic poem in history. The Evolution: How old words transformed into the modern vocabulary we use in our daily lessons. As you go through the presentation, pay attention to the spellings and sounds. You will notice that English used to be a very different, almost 'warrior-like' language! Task: Watch the slides carefully and find three words that look completely different from modern English. Write them in the comments below!
